Discover Wesel

Nestled between nature and culture, the Hanseatic city of Wesel combines history with modern lifestyle. The Rhine continues to shape the cityscape – as do the traces of the Hanseatic League, which can be seen, among other places, in the Willibrordi Cathedral and on the historic town hall facade.
At the same time, Wesel is a green city. Floodplains, cycle paths along the Rhine, Lippe and Issel rivers, as well as the Rhine promenade and the Auesee lake offer diverse opportunities for active and relaxing hours outdoors. A stay in the Lower Rhine region thus pleasantly combines cultural impressions with nature experiences.

Wesel's past as a fortress and trading city is still visible today. The citadel and the Berlin Gate are reminders of its time as a Prussian fortress, while structures like Diersfordt Castle in the surrounding area tell of the region's long history. Thus, historical development is evident not only in the city center but also in many facets around the city.
